When this book was published in 2007, there were 51 pubs open along the route. When I re-walked the route in 2012 for the Second Edition the Bulls Head at Hayfield had permanently closed down, whilst the Derwent Hotel at Bamford was also closed, although this pub may re-open. The Anglers Rest at Bamford is also currently closed, although the local community are investigating the possibility of a co-operative village 'buy-out' of the pub. The Yorkshire Bridge Inn at Bamford is definitely open, and a recommended refreshment stop after the steep descent off Win Hill. This leaves 48 pubs still open along the route!
