When this book was first published in 2000, there were 31 pubs along the route. Another pub/hotel then opened in Harome, making the total 32. In 2004, two of the three pubs closed at Glaisdale (although the two that closed were slightly off route, and were early morning stops anyway). Recently, the Milburn Arms Hotel at Rosedale Abbey has closed, and is on the market as a pub (there are two other pubs at Rosedale Abbey), and sadly the Sun Inn at Bilsdale has also closed due to retirement. These closures do not affect the route, as all other pubs are open and every lunchtime and evening overnight stop have pubs and B&Bs. Enjoy the walk!

UPDATE: Milburn Arms at Rosedale Abbey is now open, and I have had reports that the Sun Inn at Bilsdale is also open for drinks, although perhaps best to call first.

We were told in The Plough at Wombleton that the pub at Fadmoor had closed [been bought by the owners of the Royal Oak at Gillamoor to reduce competition.
