Sadly, the Sportsman Hotel at Embleton has closed, and looks destined to be converted into flats. This is a real shame as it was a great pub with fantastic food, not to mention beautiful views from the front patio across Embleton Bay towards Dunstanburgh Castle.

Don't despair though as there are still two other pubs in the village and a hotel. The Greys Inn is a brilliant and lively village pub, whilst the Blue Bell Inn is a very traditional Northumbrian village pub. The hotel is great as well, where I've stayed a few times with journalists (the other two pubs do accommodation as well). Last edit: MarkReid Mar 20 2012, 12:22
