The Inn Way promotes Low Carbon, Low Impact, Sustainable Tourism

'The Inn Way' and 'Walking Weekends' series of guidebooks by Mark Reid promote sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism by encouraging people to spend time walking through the National Parks of Northern England, staying locally in pubs and B&Bs. The Inn Way routes are great low carbon walking holidays!

In addition to this, Mark Reid makes a small donation from every book sold towards conservation projects within the National Parks of Northern England. Money raised helps fund activities such as habitat creation, tree planting, walls and barns restoration as well as footpath repair (including the 'Fix the Fells' appeal in the Lake District).

So far, 'The Inn Way' & 'Walking Weekends' books have raised £2,725 (April 2014) for these conservation and footpath repair projects.

All of 'The Inn Way' and 'Walking Weekends' books are researched, written, designed, typeset, printed and bound in England (unlike most other books), which means a significantly lower carbon footprint.

So far, money has been donated to the following projects:

  • FIX THE FELLS (Lake District)
  • DONATE TO THE DALES (Yorkshire Dales)
  • NORTH YORK MOORS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROJECT
  • PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROJECT
  • NORTHUMBERLAND NATIONAL PARK environmental projects
